Elcid is a self-taught and award winning director, writer and editor. His films range contemporary, socially-conscious, bold and fantastical subject matters. Passionate about visual storytelling, Elcid followed an MA in Film Theory at UCL with a spell in online journalism and photography, before making his filmmaking debut with the short documentary, 'Revolutionary Roads', which premiered at Sheffield Doc/Fest and went on to win Current TV’s Short Cuts prize. Elcid has since gone on to write, direct and produce a number of visually striking short films with thought-provoking stories, including PIRANHA (2014) and UNSKIN (2018), with each project successively more ambitious and a prelude to his ongoing journey towards his debut feature film.
In response to the Covid-19 lock-downs, Elcid created a global arts community video diary for creatives to share their voices with each other, called We Are Not Alone, which is shaping up to be a historical and cultural record of the crisis. Elcid also went on to write and direct a comedy-drama short film inspired by and set during the lockdowns, titled Lost for Words.
